Ferring Pharmaceuticals is a privately-owned company headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. The company is a leading provider of medicines to the world market, with operations in some 40 countries.

Business Situation
Since its formation, the company had expanded internationally but with no central headquarters function: each business unit operated entirely independently. Consequently, when the need for a small headquarters function was recognised, and implemented, the quality and consistency of information, particularly financial, available from the operating units was highly variable. It was decided to implement a group-wide financial reporting system: Cerberus, but the group had no experience of implementing large projects, especially such "sensitive" ones in largely autonomous units across so many international borders.

Solution Description
Letterfinish Consulting, with two decades of experience in handling exactly this sort of project was an obvious choice for Ferring. In order to ensure that Ferring developed experience of this type of project, Letterfinish Consulting did not undertake the day-to-day project management, but instead provided a mentoring and monitoring service to an in-house Project Manager and the Project Owner. From project inception, Letterfinish Consulting reviewed the project schedules and cost estimates advising on how to ensure realism, assisted with scheduling and resource allocation, advised on communication with the territorial business units, participated in milestone reviews and advised the Steering Committee.

Result
Cerberus was implemented on time and within its agreed budget - unusual enough with any large project, but especially a first time one for a company.
